Kangana Ranaut on Dirty Picture: Kangana Ranaut, who has completed 15 years in the industry, recently revealed that she was offered Silk's role in the film The Dirty Picture first.

Ranaut revealed she turned it down because she believes she would not have done it better than Vidya Balan. "She was terrific," Ranaut said about the Kahaani actor who played the lead role in the film and even won a National Award for her performance.

Talking about Vidya’s performance Ranaut said, “I think The Dirty Picture, just like I always said, turned out to be so wonderful."

Ranaut went on to say that she became a mainstream star by only doing "parallel or off-beat films". The Gangster actor said she has never done conventional films like Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali or even Dharma Productions, yet she is the "top leading actress who has made a name for herself". She had previously working with Milan Luthria in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. He had a hard time convincing Vidya Balan to accept her role for The Dirty Picture as well.

On completing a decade-and-a-half in Bollywood, Ranaut, in a series of tweets, wrote, “15 years ago Gangster released today, Shahrukh Khan ji and mine are the biggest success stories ever but SRK was from Delhi, convent educated and his parents were involved in films, I did not know a single word of English, no education, came from a remote village of HP and every step was a battle starting with my own father and grandfather, who made my life miserable, and yet 15 years later after so much success still every day is a fight for survival but totally worth it, thank you everyone#15yearsofgangster.”
