The television sitcom Friends that revolves around the life of six adults living and adjusting to New York City became a huge hit and went on to air for 10 seasons. Now the actors are coming back for a reunion special episode.
The news of the Friends Reunion Special episode caused quite a stir and caught fans’ attention when it was first announced last year. The special reunion episode was planned to be filmed and shot in March 2020 with a live audience.
But the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdown shut down both film and TV production. Even after the lockdown, filming processes were all slowed down due to precautionary measures. This affected the Friends Reunion special episode too, as it delayed and slowed down things for the shooting and the production.
The Friends Reunion Special episode will bring back all the main cast of the popular sitcom. The actors have also resumed filming in their natural sets. Several photos from the filming set have gone viral on the internet which made fans of the show lose all their calmness.
A close friend of Jennifer Aniston also posted a picture of the famous couch from Central Perk on her Instagram story. However, the actors of the show were not seen in the pictures.
According to sources, the Friends Reunion special episode will not be scripted as older Friends episodes. Actor David Schwimmer who starred as Ross Geller in the sitcom revealed on ">The Graham Norton Show that the actors will be appearing as themselves and not as their characters from the show. "There's nothing scripted, we're not in character", said Schwimmer.
Therefore, according to Schwimmer's confirmation, we will not be seeing Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, and Ross Geller on screen. But he also mentioned that there are a lot of surprises waiting in the Special episode that he does not yet want to reveal.
The Friends Special Reunion episode was confirmed by HBO in February 2020 with a trailer. They confirmed that all the original 236 episodes of the show along with the Special Reunion episode will be released. The Friends Special reunion episode is now scheduled to air later this year on HBO Max.
