Friends reunion celebrity guests: It’s been over ten years that fans of 90s sitcom Friends have waited for a reunion. The nostalgia project, after being announced last year, is finally set to drop in on screens later this month. The tidbits sneaking out from behind the curtains on social media – amping up fan anticipation and nearly breaking the internet – are consolidating and becoming real by the day, as the big release date May 27 comes close.

HBO Max, the streaming giant platforming the Friends reunion special, released a teaser Thursday, writing, “It’s been 17 years, but your Friends are back.” More here.

Much of the core of the sitcom that ran on NBC from 1994 to 2004, is said to have been retained, although the formula will see a renovation of sorts. The original cast – Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston – and the original producers – Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane – are all onboard the reunion.

But the actors will apparently not return to their original characters, instead playing themselves as they are. Schwimmer emphasised this on Graham Norton’s show earlier this year.

There is also an expansive list of their own friends, HBO announced, they are bringing along.

List of Friends Reunion Celebrity Guests:

  • David Beckham
  • Justin Bieber
  • BTS
  • James Corden
  • Cindy Crawford
  • Cara Delevingne
  • Lady Gaga
  • Elliott Gould
  • Kit Harington
  • Larry Hankin
  • Mindy Kaling
  • Thomas Lennon
  • Christina Pickles
  • Tom Selleck
  • James Michael Tyler
  • Maggie Wheeler
  • Reese Witherspoon
  • Malala Yousafzai

The original cast, though reportedly not assuming their roles as the iconic sextet of Joey, Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Ross and Phoebe, have revealed that emotions ran high while shooting for the reunion that brings them all together on screen for the first time after 2004.

Cox was quoted saying, “It’s an unscripted reunion, but we got to be on stage 24 for the first time, all of us, in I forgot how many years. 15 years, 17 years?”
