Gippi is a film about a girl named Gippi who's almost a teenager and is finding it difficult to deal with the changes happening to her body. Gippi struggles with dealing with puberty and issues as school.

Divya Dutta plays the role of her ">mother who is always there for her daughter and stands by her side through thick and thin. The film shows how Gippi and her mom have good and bad times in their relationship. As Gippi grows up, her mom helps her deal with puberty and all the changes in her body. Vidya Balan acted as a very loving mother to Auro, who was played by Amitabh Bachchan. Balan played the role of Dr Vidya Bharadwaj, a caring mother who takes care of her son with a rare genetic illness called progeria. Bachchan and Balan's friendly and genuine connection in this film won hearts.

Amitabh Bachchan won the National Film Award for Best Actor in the film, marking his third time winning the award.
