Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anil Kapoor Starrer 'Thar' To Release On OTT Platform

The screenplay of the film has been written by Raj Singh Chaudhary. The story is set in the 1980s and follows a man who moves to a big city for a job and to avenge his past.

A film Thar starring Anil Kapoor has been touted to be a revenge thriller. The film has Kapoor's son, actor Harshvardhan Kapoor and actor Fatima Sana Shaikh as part of the main cast.

The screenplay of the film has been written by Raj Singh Chaudhary. The story is set in the 1980s and follows a man who moves to a big city for a job and to avenge his past.

Anil Kapoor has produced the film. Apart from the others, actor Satish Kaushik is also part of the cast. Director Anurag Kashyap has been credited along with Raj Singh Chaudhary for the dialogue writer of the film. Shreya Dev Dube has done cinematography for the film and Ajay Jayanthi has done the music direction.

Anil Kapoor in his statement said, "The genre itself – a noir thriller set in Rajasthan that pays tribute to the genre of the classic Western is a first for Indian cinema and audiences. ‘Thar’ is a playground where the dynamism of new blood meets the experience of industry stalwarts, both on and off screen."

Thar will join the list of films produced by Anil Kapoor's banner, Anil Kapoor Film & Communications (AKFC network).

So far, the banner has produced films such as, khoosurat, Veere di Wedding, Gandhi My Father. Television series titled 24 was also produced by the same banner along with Arvind Adiga's Selection Day for Netflix. The film Thar will also be released on Netflix in mid-2022, as per a report by Variety.

Since 2020, Netflix has been released many Indian original shows and films. A report by Variety stated that in 2021, Amazon Prime, Disney + Hotstar and Netflix together took on 80 million subscriptions. Some subscribers may be duplicated, the report added. India is reportedly going to be the first country where Netflix takes on wholly-owned full-service post-production operation.
