Fatima Sana Shaikh Opens Up About her Battle With Epilepsy

Known for her role in Aamir Khan's Dangal, Fatima Sana Shaikh has now spoken out about her battle with epilepsy and how she has been with it.

Dangal fame actor Fatima Sana Shaikh opened up about her battle with epilepsy and how she has been holding it up. Since November month is recognised as National Epilepsy Awareness Month and Shaikh herself has been receiving the treatment, she seized the chance to participate in a fan Q&A session on her official Instagram account.

The actress revealed that she was diagnosed with epilepsy during her shoot for film Dangal. She said, "Diagnosed while I was getting ready for Dangal. I had an episode and immediately went to the hospital to recover. When epilepsy is mentioned, what words come to mind? That is when I learnt about the illness. I was initially in denial (for five years). But eventually learned to live, work, and work around it today."

One of the fan asked her that epilepsy patients are tricked into smelling a stinky shoe; she responded, "This is a myth. Please refrain from doing this, aisa mat karna.

Fatima On Epilepsy Struggle

Shaikh further revealed that she disclosed her ailment to each of her film directors. They have always been really understanding and supportive. They are aware of the difficulties they can experience on days when I have an episode, she continued.

When the actor was asked if having epilepsy hampered her career goals, she said that she had to move a little slowly but was still capable of completing any task. "There are some unusual and unpleasant days, nevertheless. However, I've had the good fortune to work with folks I've been dying to. And this has not diminished my enthusiasm, and I have never sacrificed any effort to perform my best", said Shaikh.

On the professional front, Shaikh will soon appear alongside Vicky Kaushal in Dhak Dhak and Sam Bahadur. Shaikh began her career as a child artist in Chachi 420 and One 2 Ka 4. Years later, she played Zoya in the Indian drama film Tahaan. Last she was seen in Thar produced by actor Anil Kapoor
