Cirkus Trailer: Ranveer Singh's Upcoming Comedy Promises 'Electric' Fun

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty's upcoming comedy film Cirkus's official trailer was released.

The Cirkus trailer promises an electrifying adventure set in the 1960s. The film stars Singh in a double role and is an adaption of William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The Shakespeare play revolves around identical twins who were separated at birth.

The film Cirkus stars Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in dual roles, alongside actors Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Siddhartha Jadhav, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tiku Talsania, and Vrajesh Hirjee.

The film also features cameos by stars Deepika Padukone and Ajay Devgn.

The Cirkus trailer was shared by Singh on social media with the caption, "WELCOME TO ROHIT SHETTY’S COMEDY-VERSE!!!" 

The trailer revealed that the comedy was set in the 1960s and Singh is in a dual role as a set of twins. Both twins are unaware of the other, leading to comedic situations and misunderstandings.

Singh's character 'Electric Man' is a part of a circus due to his weird superpower which allows him to harness electricity.

According to the summary, the film follows a circus operator and his gymnast friends who "juggle" with their lives and are trying to bring back circus culture into the mainstream.

Cirkus is based on the 1982 Hindi film Angoor, which was a remake of the 1968 Hindi film Do Dooni Chaar which is an adaption of the 1963 Bengali film Bhranti Bilas based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors.

While the twins separated at birth is a common thread connecting the films above and the play The Comedy of Errors, the latest adaption Cirkus has unique aspects such as the circus troupe and supernatural abilities.

The upcoming 2022 Indian period comedy film is directed and produced by Rohit Shetty. It is also jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and T-Series.

Cirkus is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 23, 2022.

The film was scheduled to release on December 31, 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in several production delays.
