The Cirkus trailer promises an electrifying adventure set in the 1960s. The film stars Singh in a double role and is an adaption of William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The Shakespeare play revolves around identical twins who were separated at birth.
The film Cirkus stars Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in dual roles, alongside actors Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Siddhartha Jadhav, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tiku Talsania, and Vrajesh Hirjee.
The film also features cameos by stars Deepika Padukone and Ajay Devgn.

Cirkus is based on the 1982 Hindi film Angoor, which was a remake of the 1968 Hindi film Do Dooni Chaar which is an adaption of the 1963 Bengali film Bhranti Bilas based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors.
While the twins separated at birth is a common thread connecting the films above and the play The Comedy of Errors, the latest adaption Cirkus has unique aspects such as the circus troupe and supernatural abilities.
