Khurrana is going to play the role of Manu Munjal who is a gym-enthusiast who participates in weight lifting championships. He meets a good looking Zumba teacher Maanvi Brar (played by Vaani Kapoor) and falls in love with her. The couple get on the rosy romantic love story but soon are faced the conflict. Kapoor's character reveals her gender identity and Manu Munjal finds it hard to continue loving her. A shocked Manu cuts all ties with her but they both cannot resist each other. The film is about how these love-birds try to revive their romance.
Vaani Kapoor plays the role of a strong headed protagonist who is ready to give it all for her goals. The film recently released its song titled Kalle Kalle and Maafi which are sung by the male lead Ayushmann Khurrana. The film has been directed by Abhishek Kapoor. Leena Sharma and Girish Dhamija are also part of the film's cast.
Many social media users have made guesses that the film will be about a transgender women in a romantic relationship with a Cis-heterosexual man. The film has also got flak for its attempt to represent a transgender person without casting someone who is actually transgender.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Release Date:
The film is also going to the first Zero-waste Indian film. The producer Pragya Kapoor has collaborated with an organisation that helps companies in adopting sustainable waste management solutions. The film will release nationwide in theatres on December 10, 2021. The film is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar and Pragya Kapoor.
