After a bitter legal battle, a Los Angeles Judge has finally suspended Briteny Spears' father, Jamie Spears from the conservatorship that controlled her finances and personal life for 13 years.

This judgement marks a victory for the pop singer who has objected time and again to this arrangement that snatched her independence.

According to media reports, Judge Brenda Penny, after listening to both sides of the argument, said that the current situation is "untenable" and it reflects "a toxic environment" which requires suspension of Jamie Spears.

A hearing to fully terminate the conservatorship is expected to take place on November 12. Meanwhile, Judge Penny asked Jamie Spears to turn over all the conservatory assets that he has in possession.

A conservatorship is a form of adult guardianship in the US, wherein a conservator is given the legal responsibility to protect the conservative with the power to make decisions on their behalf. The pop singer has been under her father's conservatorship since 2008.

The decision came three months after the pop star had first come out in public with a plea to remove her father from the conservatorship, alleging her father is abusive and invaded his adult daughter's privacy.

Though Jamie Spears' denied this allegation both publicly and in court, numerous documentaries on Spears conservatorship row told different stories. For instance, in Netflix's recently released Britney vs. Spears it is alleged that the singer tried hiring her own lawyer twice, but was denied this basic right under conservatorship. Another documentary made shocking claims that Jamie Spears had bugged her daughter's bedroom to listen to all her conversations.

The documentary Framing Britney Spears, had sparked a massive movement led by her fans and well-wishers, demanding that the pop singer is freed from the conservatorship, with protestors using the term "Free Britney" both online and during protests to put their point across.
