Bharti Singh recently shared a video of herself addressing her followers in response to a viral video of one of her comedy acts, with many criticising her remarks as derogatory to the Sikh community. Bharti Singh apologises to her fans in a 56-second video posted on Instagram after being accused of offending religious sentiments by making fun of beards and moustaches. Singh is seen talking in Punjabi in her video.
Bharti Singh captioned the video with a small note for everyone, which read, "Main comedy karti hoon logo ko khush karne ke liye na ki kisi ka dil dukhane ke liye. Agar meri kisi baat se koi hurt hua ho tho maaf kar dena aapni behan samjh ke , If I have hurt anyone, then forgive me as a sister>."
Why Did Bharti Singh Apologise?
A viral video shows Singh conversing with actor Jasmin Bhasin during an appearance on her comedy series Bharti Ka Show. In the video, Singh states, "Dhadhi mooch kyu nahi chahiye. Dhadhi mooch ke bade fayede hote hain. Dudh piyo, aise dhadi munh mein daalo, sewaiyon ka taste aata hai ."
She then added, "Mere kaafi friends logo ki shaadi hui hai na, jinki itni itni dhaadi hai, saara din dhadi mein se jue nikalti rehti hai ."
Singh explained in the apology video, "You can watch that video. I never said that Punjabi people keep beards. I was doing comedy with a friend, and it was a true dialogue. These days, a lot of men have beards and moustaches. However, if my views have offended people of any religion or caste, I apologise with folded hands. I was born in Amritsar and am a proud Punjabi."
