Alia Bhatt who has already won over admirers with her acting skills, has now taken on the role of a producer for her next film Darlings. Soon, the Netflix original film Darlings starring Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew will be available to watch.

Darlings is described as a dark comedy-drama that highlights the lives of a mother-daughter duo struggling against all difficulties to make their place in Mumbai. They search for courage and love in unlikely situations. Read on to know more about Darlings release, plot, cast and much more.

Darlings Plot

The ">trailer begins with Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah going to a police station to report Hamza, the former's spouse, as a missing person (Vijay Varma). The two are responsible for planning Hamza's kidnapping and even enlist the involvement of Roshan Mathew's Zulfi. In a later scene of the trailer, it is explained why the mother-daughter duo chose to abduct and torture Hamza in their own home and why they may have been completely justified in doing so. In short, the trailer of the movie reveals that the movie centres around a murder-mystery.

Darlings, produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma, will premiere on Netflix on August 5. In a statement, Alia Bhatt had expressed her enthusiasm for the movie saying, "Darlings holds a very special place in my heart, it's my first film as a producer that too with Red Chillies. We are very proud and happy how the film has shaped up and we hope it will entertain and engage audiences the world over."

Bhatt has so far played the title character in the biographical crime drama Gangubai Kathaiwadi and co-starred with Ram Charan and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. in the record-breaking blockbuster RRR. Around the year's end, she will play Ranbir Kapoor's love interest in the much anticipated fantasy film Brahmastra.
