On September 6, it was reported that Bhatia had been unwell for the past few days and had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai. As his mother’s condition worsened, Kumar decided to fly back to India from the United Kingdom. “Akshay is extremely attached to his mother and could not stay away from her while she’s not well, so he decided to fly back to India in a sudden decision,” a source close to the actor revealed.
Associated with Akshay Kumar banner Hari Om Films (named after the actor’s late father), Bhatia had acted as producer for several of his films like Patiala House, Airlift, Singh Is King, Toilet- Ek Prem Katha, Rustom, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Mission Mangal. She had also produced Taapsee Pannu starrer Naam Shabana, in which Kumar made a short appearance.
