Ajay Devgn Starts Shooting for Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi

Ajay Devgn Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt-starrer, which is set for a theatrical release on July 30, has been creating massive buzz since the teaser was out on Wednesday. Now, after much speculation, actor Ajay Devgn has confirmed to be a part of the film. He will start the shooting on Saturday in Mumbai, as per reports.

He will be playing a significant role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film, and for the first time, will share the screen with lead actor Alia Bhatt. The two stars will also be featured in SS Rajamouli’s ambitious multilingual, RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The much-anticipated teaser received a lot of appreciation and love from the industry and Bhatt has gained social media attention as her performance left everyone spellbound. The film is based on one of the chapters of S Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

About the film

The historical drama features Bhatt as Gangubai, a sex worker who became one of the most powerful, loved, and respected madams from Kamathipura during the 1960s. She rose through the ranks in Mumbai’s famous red light area, to hold the title of the most influential brothel madam in the city. Devgn is reuniting with Bhansali after 22 years since blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam released in 1999, starring Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. This will be Bhansali’s tenth directorial venture.

Devgn’s other upcoming films are MayDay, Bhuj, Maidaan and Thank God.
