In one of the most awaited Cannes Film Festival 2025 appearances, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the red carpet in an ivory and gold Banarasi saree and a handwoven tissue drape, paired with ruby jewellery and striking sindoor (vermilion) to complete the look. Bollywood-favourite couturier Manish Malhotra designed the ensemble in a unique gown silhouette and a sheer train. The fabric was adorned with handwoven brocade motifs and hand-embroidered zari detailing in real chandi.

Aishwarya wore 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds set in 18k gold by Manish Malhotra. For hair and makeup, she sported sleek open hair, with sindoor in the middle partition, and red lipstick. Aishwarya, who is attending the film festival for the 22nd time this year, has earned the status of a Cannes legend, flaunting cultural pride and making heads turn in statement looks.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's look this year has particularly struck a chord with the audience for the sindoor. Several fans speculated that this touch was a direct ode to Operation Sindoor, India's military campaign against the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Fans claimed that this was Aishwarya's silent yet powerful way of showing national support. However, the actress or her team have not commented on the same.
