A television actor has accused her co-star of molesting her during a Holi celebration in Mumbai. The alleged incident took place at a rooftop party organised by their entertainment company in Jogeshwari. The accused, a 29-year-old actor, was reportedly drunk at the time. According to the actor, her co-star forcibly applied colours to her face and inappropriately touched her, despite her attempts to avoid him. She recounted in her complaint that she had been trying to hide behind a stall, but the accused followed her and forcefully smeared colours on her cheek. She also claimed that the actor had been making inappropriate advances toward multiple women at the party.

The actor alleged that her co-star made unsettling remarks, saying, “I love you, let’s see who can stop me from getting to you.” She further stated that despite her efforts to push him away, he continued to touch her inappropriately.

Feeling distressed and mentally shaken, she shared the incident with her friends at the party. When they confronted the accused, the situation escalated into a physical altercation, during which the accused allegedly pushed them away.

Following the incident, the actress and her friends approached the police and filed a complaint. A case has been registered under Section 75(1)(i) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual harassment. The police have issued a notice to the accused, summoning him for questioning. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.

Holi celebrations across India once again raised concerns over safety, as multiple incidents of harassment and inappropriate behaviour surfaced on social media. A widely circulated video on social media further exposed the darker side of Holi celebrations.

Shared by the Instagram account Women of India, the clip features a compilation of distressing incidents where revelry turned into harassment. The caption powerfully stated, “Celebrate your culture, but not like a vulture. Since when did this become a festival?”
