What would you do if there were no men for 24 hours?
If there were no men. We asked this question to women. Their responses will surprise you. Women seek such basic needs from the world they live in. Like go out star gazing, take a walk without looking back.

Imagine women wandering on the streets at night without a man accompanying them as a protective shield, their handbags not packed with all sorts of self-defence gadgets and sprays, no separate female coaches on the metro or girls not constantly fixing their tops to avoid "too much" skin show?

Before the "not-all-men" brigade intervenes with defensive advocacy, this isn't about the existence of men in the society. But the limitations that the patriarchal system has imposed on women, in name of our safety, owing to the crimes mostly committed by men.

if there were no men

There's no denying that women are often advised to be alert or not step out of the house at night by the men in our homes. Growing up we are constantly reminded that we need to be aware and in proper conduct around the other gender. So, has this this unending curtailment led you to thinking of a world which had no men in it? I bet it must have crossed your mind for once at least.

We asked a few women how they imagine their lives would be if there are no men for 24 hours. The responses that we got would make one weigh up the society we live in and how the simplest wishes are a pie in the sky for women.

And here's what women think they would do If there are no men:

Not wear a bra! And wear shorts without judgement

Of course! This had to be the first thought. I doubt there is any other piece of clothing that women loathe more than a bra and to get free from the clutches of those underwires is no less than a dream.

Take a drive at night and walk on empty streets

A simple desire to be out on the roads after the sun goes down (or even in the day) seems inaccessible for many women be it in urban or rural areas.

Go out with my daughter for a whole day without worrying for her safety and mine

The constant fear that family members live in whenever a girl steps out the house is so common that we don't even speak about it. Even a mother, who is considered to the one to be protecting her child, isn't quite safe out there herself.

Be comfortable at work without any sexist crap

The women inside the four walls aren't quite at peace either. Besides the physical harm, sexism and misogyny are also demons of the society. A day at work where you competence isn't measure by your gender isn't a great desire, right?

Won’t carry pepper spray everywhere

The need for a woman to be fully-equipped with self-defense gadgets like she is going on a war is beyond me. To have a thought of being vulnerable stuck at the back of your mind all day should be normal for anyone.

Explore unafraid

Despite the clampdown, women are reaching great heights and achieving their goals. However, to have all these desires fulfilled, with even men existing in the same world, and not feel like it's an utopia dream is what we deserve.
