Madhya Pradesh Government Announces Free Education For Kids Orphaned Due To COVID-19

Free education for COVID orphans in Madhya Pradesh: As the country battles with the deadly second wave of COVID-19, reports have emerged of many children losing their parents to the disease. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced on Thursday, May 13, that a Rs 5000 per month pension will be given to the children who have lost their parents or guardians to COVID-19. The government will also further arrange free education for the children and free ration for their families.

“We will give Rs 5000 per month pension to children who have lost their parents/guardians in this COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll also arrange free education for these children and free ration for these families,” announced the MP Chief Minister. He also added that the state government will grant loans to women who want to start a business or work, on a government guarantee.

On Tuesday, May 11, the government of Jammu and Kashmir also announced a special scholarship for the children who lost their parents to the disease. The step was taken to help the minors who have been orphaned after their parents succumbed to COVID-19.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha announced a number of measures for the state to help fight the health crisis and adverse impacts of the condition. Several special benefits have been announced for children who have lost their family members to the virus.

The government of Maharashtra also came forward to help children orphaned to due COVID-19 that will be headed by collectors and will consist of police chiefs, civic bodies, and rural health officials of the district.

Yashomati Thakur, the Women and Child Development Minister of Maharashtra said that children being orphaned due to the pandemic was a social problem, and the state government is trying to ensure that they are nurtured, get protection and education.

Actor Sonu Sood also urged governments and other institutions to help children who had lost their family members to COVID-19. The actor said that such children should be provided education free of cost from school to college, be it in a government or private school.
