Who is Nandini Das, The Winner Of 2023 British Academy Book Prize

Who is Nandini Das?

Nandini Das' journey is one of inspiration and intellectual awakening. Hailing from India, her early educational pursuits led her into the world of sciences. After completing her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor's degree in English from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India, Nandini Das embarked on a remarkable academic journey. The prestigious Rhodes scholarship brought her to the United Kingdom, where she pursued her passion for English at University College, Oxford. At Oxford, she furthered her education, earning her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees from Trinity College and University College, Cambridge. This impressive academic foundation laid the groundwork for her future scholarly endeavours. 

She currently is a professor of Early Modern Literature and Culture in the English faculty at the University of Oxford.

As of October 31, 2023, Nandini Das has added another accolade to her illustrious career. She has been named the recipient of the 11th British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding. This esteemed recognition was bestowed upon her for her work, "Courting India: England, Mughal India and the Origins of Empire."
