Meghan Harry anniversary: Three years ago, when Meghan Markle tied knots with the Duke of Sussex on May 19, it became a historic date. Since then, the royal couple has kept on giving us couple goals in its most charming way possible.
As the couple celebrates their 3rd Anniversary as a married couple, we revisited some of the best memories of the couple that broke stereotypes, redefined love and made everyone question the very idea of the British royal family.
Twinning
The couple has often melted our hearts by showing up in outfits that compliment each other. During an event in Melbourne, the couple was seen to be twinning in navy blue. Markle dressed in a Dion Lee sleeveless dress with matching heels and Harry complimented his wife's outfit in a navy blue suit. As always, the couple caught the attention of every eye in the room but that day, the credit went to their twinning outfits.
In another incident, the couple was spotted twinning in an awards show. They chose a monochrome look for the same, where Markle, pregnant with Archie at the time, was seen in a halter-neck Safiyaa gown that bore floral white sequin work over black sequins, flowing into an elegant skirt. The Prince, on the other hand, chose a black suit over a white shirt with a black bowtie and dress shoes.
Personalised Wedding
Marriage is a solemn and divine institution for many, Meghan-Harry took a spin at all of the traditional rituals and replaced them with the more important element- love. They showed that nothing is more significant in a relationship than what matters to the couple itself. From the wedding cake to the traditional hymns, they personalised almost everything at the wedding.
They included the contemporary wording and songs, including a rendition of Stand By Me in the ceremony, performed by gospel group The Kingdom Choir in a nod to Meghan's American roots.
2018's Christmas Card
Although the concept of releasing Christmas cards has been considered cringe by the current generation, the Meghan-Harry couple brought it all back with their act of releasing Christmas cards in the year 2018.
The couple shared an unseen picture from their wedding day, in a black-and-white backdrop. In the same, the couple wrapped their arms around each other, taken during the evening celebration at their wedding reception, amidst fireworks on the grounds of Frogmore Cottage.
Stepping back as royals
When last year, the royal couple stepped back as 'senior' members of the royal family to become "financially independent", they set an example for the entire youth, proving it is never late to find one's own identity and start a new life. As the shocking news came after the Duke and Duchess posted the same on their Instagram account, The Queen backed the couple about their future roles, saying the royal family “respect and understand” their desire to step back as senior royals.
"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity," the caption read.
Calling Out Racism
Even during the couple's courting period, many raised questions against the Prince marrying a mixed-race woman. There were also hurtful things said about the fact that Meghan was had also been a divorcee. Despite everything, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married each other and proved to the world that love doesn't bow down to such regressive opinions.
During the bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple revealed the racist speculations raised within the royal family about the skin colour about their then-unborn son Archie. They made the whole world aware of how backward thinking the world's largest surviving monarchy can be. The couple chose to move away from all that negativity and created their new world in Los Angeles, America.
Prince Harry Adjusting Markle's Hair
In a viral video from 2019, the Prince was seen to be adjusting his wife's hair in public, every time it got a little messed up. The small gesture made by the Prince hints at the bigger picture that reveals the decent and loving character of the Prince.
The video spotted Harry adjusting Markle's pony every time it got tucked in due to various reasons. Apparently, the prince understands the struggle of maintaining the perfect pony. The series of compilation captured another moment when Markle's hair fluttered in the air due to a sudden breeze and the Prince used his hand to save keep his wife's hair in place.
