How FaceApp Turned This 50-Year-Old Japanese Man Into A 'Biker Chick' Influencer

How does a Japanese biker man become a 'biker chick' influencer that is influencing thousands on social media? Every day that technology pushes its boundaries, we become witness to extraordinary results as this. People in Japan were left astounded when a popular online travel blogging-woman revealed herself to be a 50-year-old man using FaceApp.

Social media account '@azusagakuyuki,' with over 20,000 followers on Twitter, was attracting audiences for the picturesque locations it posted about in Japan. Photos showed the account was run by a young Japanese woman with a penchant for bike riding and travel.

But fans didn't miss that something seemed to be amiss with this 'biker chick' personality.

Those who followed the account closely on social media always had some suspicions as to who was actually behind it. Some eagle-eyed fans found their doubts to be confirmed when some bike photos posted in February from this account reflected irregularities in the rearview mirror.

The whole truth came to the fore earlier this week when Japan's television series Late Monday Show reportedly probed into the case and found that the person running the popular account was actually a Japanese biker man, aged 50!

Japanese Biker Man Transforms His 'Uncle' Persona

The telecast showed the man, named Zonggu, make a face reveal. And though his long mane was not too different from the 'biker chick' persona he had adopted, his face was nothing like it. Zonggu said he turned to FaceApp for transforming into a young, attractive woman because no one would have paid heed to an influencer 'uncle' like him.

This catfish, however, doesn't seem to have bothered many on social media who are more amused than anguished. Zonggu has apologised for his actions and his social media account still runs on his 'biker chick' persona as before.
