Kumar informed that in the Bengaluru district and Kerala border, only students of class eight are allowed to attend physical classes in schools. With the number of active COVID-19 cases declining in the state, and eased restrictions, Karnataka reopened their schools for Class 9 from February 1. However, students coming from Kerala have to present their COVID-19 negative test report before attending physical classes.

The education department has directed all schools to follow the guidelines. They have to sanitise classes, maintain hygiene, and proper social distancing to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. The department is yet to decide on resuming schools for students of classes one to five in primary schools across the southern state.

Meanwhile, Karnataka’s final year pre-university exam or class 12 exam will be starting from May 24 and will continue till June 16. The time-table for the same has also been released. Candidates can now check the timetable on the official website pue.kar.nic.in.

Education Minister Kumar said that they had released the tentative timetable of the exam on January 29. This was done to take into account parents’ and students’ concerns regarding the schedule of the exam. “A few students and parents approached the department directly about the clash of final exams with other competitive exams. Hence, we had to rework the schedule and have announced the final timetable for PUC-2,” he said.

The first paper for the pre-university exam or PUC-2 will be History and the last paper will be a paper related to Kannada. Read about it more here.
