Further Details

The victims have been identified as Alberto Rolon, aged 38, Zoraida Bartolomei, aged 32, and their two sons, aged 7 and 9. It appears that they were deliberately targeted in this attack, according to Deputy Chief Chris Burne of the Romeoville Police Department, who made a video statement.

Although the investigation is still in its early stages, initial findings suggest that the incident occurred between 9 pm on September 16 night and 5 am on September 17 morning. Crime scene technicians have been working at the residence, taking photographs, and removing several bags, some brown and pink in colour. Additionally, items like a computer screen and part of a window were taken from the scene. Authorities have not disclosed any information about potential suspects.

Police Statement

Deputy Chief Burne emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating that this incident is the police department's foremost priority. He noted that all officers and professional staff have been tirelessly dedicated to the case. Detectives and crime scene investigators have been meticulously gathering a substantial amount of physical evidence over the last 36 hours.

The Will County Major Crime Task Force has joined the investigation to aid in evidence collection and video analysis. Law enforcement is actively seeking assistance from the public, including doorbell camera footage, to aid in their investigation.

It is important to note that the authorities have ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide, stating, "We don't believe the offender is among the victims right now." This tragic incident has deeply affected Romeoville, a community of approximately 40,000 residents located 35 miles southwest of Chicago.

Not The First Incident

Earlier in August, in Maryland, USA, an Indian couple and their six-year-old child were found dead in a suspected case of double suicide murder.

The unfortunate incident took place in Baltimore County, where the three individuals, originally from Karnataka, were found lifeless due to gunshot wounds. This discovery was made when law enforcement responded to a welfare check request. The victims were identified as Yogesh H. Nagarajappa (37), Prathiba Y. Amarnath (37), and their six-year-old child, Yash Honnal.
