The 30-year-old candidate won against Santosh Kumar, a TMC candidate by a margin of more than 4,000 votes.

Bauri, who comes from a humble background, is being congratulated and hailed for her astounding success on Twitter.

According to the affidavit submitted by Bauri for the Assembly elections, her assets amount to just Rs 31,985 while her husband's assets were just Rs 30,311. Her husband works as a mason for daily wages. Bauri and her husband, who are the parents of three children also own three cows and three goats.

During an interview with the News Agency ANI in March, Bauri said that she had no idea that she would be selected as a candidate in the legislative assembly polls before the tickets were announced. Although many people encouraged her to apply for the nomination, she did not think that she would be able to come for the feat.

Many people took to Twitter to congratulate her on her win calling it splendid and inspiring.

One of the Twitter users wrote, "Show her.. victory of this common woman. Chandana Bauri Saltora seat.. a woman with no political background, Money power 🙏 This is the reason to smile.. 🙂"

Another user also congratulated her on the victory saying, "Chandana Bouri from Saltora constituency has won by 4145 votes! Remember-her total worth is ₹31,985 with three goats, three cows and one hut."

The constituency of Saltora was won by Swapan Baraui from TMC the last two times, but this time, the party gave the ticket to Santosh Kumar Mondal from the seat.
