Who Is Corn Kid? 7-Year-Old Tariq Becomes TikTok Sensation

Corn Kid, also known as Tariq took the internet by storm after he was featured in a YouTube interview show called Recess Therapy. The 7-year-old expressed his love for corn and has now been named South Dakota's official "Corn-basssador".

Tariq appeared in an episode of Recess Therapy, a web series hosted by comedian Julian Shapiro-Barnum where he interviews children in playgrounds. The ">video of him eating corn and expressing his love for corn by saying, “I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing – it’s corn!” quickly went viral.

Tariq's internet fame has taken him to new heights as he appeared on actor Drew Barrymore’s show and was named as South Dakota’s official “Corn-bassador”.

• 7-year-old Tariq, known on the internet as Corn Kid went viral as he spoke about his favourite food.
• Tariq confused the host and viewers by saying, “Ever since I was told that corn was real, it tasted good” and delighted the host, his grandmother, and millions by saying “Have a corntastic day!”
• The original video has more than 5 million views and the music group Gregory Brothers made a song out of Tariq’s viral video and made a song titled It’s Corn.
• The money earned by people streaming the song will be split between the music group and Tariq and his family.
• Tariq and his family visited South Dakota and Governor Kristi Noem declared the Corn Kid the “official Corn-bassador” for the state.
• Noem declared September 3 as “Official Corn-bassador Tariq Day”. The declaration read, “South Dakota is one of the top corn producers in the nation, providing nourishment across the globe but especially to Tariq, a 7-year-old boy who recently discovered that corn was real.”
• Tariq’s mother Jessica found out her son had gone viral when she got a message with a video from her cousins in Europe and they asked, “Isn’t this Tariq?
• On September 13, Tariq made an appearance on Drew Barrymore’s talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show and sampled corn-flavoured items with the host.
• The Corn Kid also joined Cameo, a platform where celebrities can record personalised videos for their fans for a fee.
• He also set up a TikTok account with the help of his mother and has nearly 600,000 followers. Tariq’s TikTok handle is @KornBoyPOfficial ss the handle @CornKid was already taken by somebody else.
