A case has already been registered against the couple at the Satara taluka police station SP Bansal said.

The pregnant woman has been identified as Sindhu Sanap who said that ever since she started her job, the former sarpanch had been threatening her and demanding money.

"When I did not pay the money, on January 19, while returning from work, he attacked me and my husband and beat me up. He was beaten with slippers." said Sindhu Sanap.

Maharashtra's State Commission for Women has taken cognizance of the matter and has sought a report from SP. They have demanded for a strict action to be taken against the accused couple.
