Viral Video: Woman Shares An Inspiring Tale Of Surviving A Life-Changing Disease

Everyone is aware of how painful a disease can be for an individual and how stressful it may be. It strains the patient's relationships with their loved ones, family, and friends in particular. Those who fight these battles with undying passion and commitment, however, frequently have inspirational stories to share with others because of the lessons from their experiences. One such story was shared by Instagram user @shyann.iseli.

The Instagram user recorded a video of herself and discussed her long fight with aplastic anaemia. Aplastic anaemia, for those who are unaware, happens when the body stops generating enough new blood cells. The disease makes you more exhausted and vulnerable to infections and uncontrollable bleeding.

At the age of 17, the girl in the video had a severe case of aplastic anaemia. In the post, she shared, she had written, "It was a very traumatic experience not just for me but for my family as well. We have lost many people in our lives: our brothers, sisters, fathers, and uncles. I was extremely close to my death."  She added that she needed immediate stomach surgery after her heart stopped for 20 minutes. In addition, the girl experienced cardiac arrest, a coma, many days of high fever, and low blood pressure.

She continued by saying that doctors put her on dialysis for nearly a month in order to empty her body of all fluids. She eventually started to get better, but she wasn't feeling any better. When she would look in the mirror, she would no longer recognise herself. She admitted that her body was completely different, she had lost her hair, and she had a massive scar on her stomach. They were going to be her new insecurities, she feared. Watch the video here.

This video has received 6.8 million views since it was shared. More than 500,000 people have liked and commented on the video. One user wrote, "Wow, what an incredible person you are. Praying this comes to an end."  Another user wrote, "You are very strong! I'm so happy that you made it through that time. I hope you are doing great."
