The 2021 Oscars being Ahmed and Mirza's first public appearance, they won many hearts with their evident loving gestures. While the couple posed for the camera on the red carpet, Ahmed took a moment to first fix his wife’s hair. Fans and spectators all over the world were quick to notice this and the internet is now flooded with a clip of this moment.
“I’m the official groomer for the evening,” Ahmed jokingly said. Twitter users have gone crazy over and lots of people have been talking about it. Many also expressed their jealousy over Mirza because of how lucky she is.
Carried out at two different locations, the Union Station and the Dolby Theatre, the 93rd Academy Awards have been heaving delayed for about eight weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although it was scheduled to take place on February 28, 2021, the ceremony has been moved to a more convenient time. The guest list has also been cut short due to the pandemic. Only the nominees, the guests, and the presenters were allowed inside the hall.
The 93rd Academy Awards prided itself on having a quite diverse list and range of nominees this year. Included in this, Ahmed is officially the first Muslim to be nominated for Best Actor in the Academy Awards.
