On May 29, 2022, news agency ANI posted the footage on Twitter. The news agency also spoke with Laxmi Mukhi, and she stated, "For the past ten years, I've been employed by the Municipality of Baripada. Because I am alone at home, I must carry my child on my back while working. It's not a problem for me; it's my responsibility." You can watch the video here.
The Chairman of Baripada Municipality, Badal Mohanty, stated, "Laxmi Mukhi is our cleaning staff, she carries her infant with her and fulfils her tasks every day due to some personal concerns. I've told my officials to keep an eye on her needs, and if anything goes wrong, we'll help her."
Meanwhile, the video has gone viral with over 2 lakh views and numerous retweets and comments. A user commented, "Not something heroic... But heartbreaking!! The baby was tied to the back, breathing all that dust and smoke, in the hot sun... Every child deserves a clean, nurturing & comfortable living Child services organisations should be taking care of the child while she earns a living."
