On May 17, severe rains produced flash floods in a number of towns and cities in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, leaving at least three people dead and three others missing. A video that has recently surfaced will put a smile on your face amidst these uncertain circumstances.

Neighbours Rescue Mother-Daughter

A crying mother clutching her infant can be seen in the video, pleading for help. Two men bravely swim towards her while observing her dangerous predicament. When the street is flooded, one of them grabs the infant and cautiously wades through the neck-deep water, while the other holds the mother up and helps her cross. They are rescued from dangerous circumstances when they successfully reach a safe location together.

The Good News Movement's Twitter account posted the video. The caption of the video said, "TAKE MY DAUGHTER, HELP!’ (Cesena, Italy): Neighbours jump in to save mother and young daughter from rising flood waters."

The following tweet from Goodnews Movement stated that hundreds of landslides were caused by twenty rivers bursting their banks in the area this week, prompting residents of cities like Cesena to climb onto the roofs of their buildings to escape the oncoming flood.

The video received a tonne of comments praising the neighbours. One user wrote that he was impressed by the neighbours' saying that humans at their best are totally brave. Another user wrote that what the neighbours did was just amazing.

Nevertheless, in the middle of the bleak conditions, this video has surfaced and made us grin. The happy news of the rescue is contrasted with the heartbreaking possibility that many more people may still be trapped due to the rising water levels.

In a region of northern Italy that has been experiencing a drought, heavy rain on Wednesday forced rivers to overflow. The rain was heavy enough to force the cancellation of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix because the emergency services were already overworked.
