A viral video of a bride is winning hearts online, not for the wedding itself, but for how she made her rescued pets a special part of her big day. Mugdha Khatri, founder of Healing Saathi, a Dehradun-based charity that provides shelter and care for sick, injured, and special-needs animals, recently tied the knot. But while weddings often make headlines for their grandeur, it was Khatri’s touching tribute to animals that stole the spotlight.
In a video shared on her Instagram account @mugdha_khatri, she revealed a deeply personal moment. Alongside the blessings of God, family, and friends, she had always dreamt of receiving love from those she considers just as dear, her rescued animals. And so, she found a way to make them a part of her big day in the most beautiful way.
The video showed an emotional moment where dogs and cats left their paw prints on her bridal chadar, alongside the handprints of her family members. Embroidered on her veil was a vow that truly spoke of her life’s mission: "In love and unity, we vow to protect the voiceless."
But the personal touches didn’t stop there. Even her kaleere were customised with dog faces, paw designs, and the names of her beloved pets. And in a scene straight out of a fairy tale, her ring bearer arrived, her first rescue dog, Tarzan.
The video ends with Khatri at her shelter, surrounded by her rescued dogs, with a powerful promise: "With this new chapter, my promise to the voiceless grows stronger." Alongside her husband, Mayank Maithani, and their furry baby, Luna, the couple aimed to spread two important messages:
"Adopt karein, shop na karein (Adopt, don’t shop)."
"Shaadiyon mein ghodon wali baggi ka istemal na karein (Please don’t use horses in the wedding procession)."
The internet couldn’t stop gushing over this heartfelt tribute. Users flooded the comment section with love and admiration, praising the couple for using their wedding to spread kindness and awareness. Many called it "the most beautiful and meaningful wedding" they had seen, while others felt inspired to adopt pets instead of buying them.
