Valery, the woman behind the initiative, shared a video on Instagram where she confidently wrapped the lungi around herself, pairing it with a simple t-shirt and sunglasses for a casual yet culturally rich look. As she made her way to a grocery store, the reactions of bystanders were captured on camera, with people of all ages expressing surprise and fascination at her unique attire.

The background music of the video, the Telugu song Pushpa Pushpa from the 2021 movie Pushpa: The Rise, added an extra layer of fun and vibrancy to the clip. Take a look at the video here.

Commenters on the post expressed a mix of admiration, excitement, and curiosity. Others praised Valery for fulfilling their wishes and commended her for boldly embracing her heritage. One commenter even humorously remarked that Valery had "conquered" the UK with her lungi attire.

However, amidst the positive responses, there were also observations about cultural perceptions. Some users noted that most people seemed to give only passing glances to Valery's lungi, comparing it to a skirt and suggesting that wearing similar traditional attire might attract more attention in certain contexts.

Another similar instance of cultural fusion made waves on social media occurred when a video went viral showing a young woman turning heads as she took a stroll on the streets of London wearing a red wedding 'lehenga'. The reel was shared by Shraddha, a Spanish-Indian model with 1,68,000 followers on Instagram, who describes herself as a digital marketer and viral media expert in her bio.

In the video, the model is seen first riding the London tube dressed as a bride in a red embroidered 'lehenga', adorned with heavy jewellery. As she enters the train, all eyes are on her, with fellow passengers seemingly fascinated by her choice of attire. Upon reaching her destination, she continues her walk on the streets, attracting similar attention from passersby. Some are spotted clicking pictures of her, while others shoot curious glances.

The caption of the video reads, ''Giving y'all anxiety through the screen,'' with the text insert stating, ''Reactions to a desi top and skirt in London.'' Take a look at the video here.
