US: Teen, 17 Shot Dad And Brother Dead

Reid, (17) who is charged with killing her father and autistic brother also told the detectives she considered killing her sister by stabbing or shooting her as well and it can be assumed by her statements that the teen was upset over her mother walking out of the family in December, leaving her alone to take care of her siblings and house.

As per the Reno Justice Court's documents, Reid sent her father to go to the store and grab ingredients for pizza just so to "stall the time" for her to learn to use her father's handgun, a Walther PPS, and allegedly went online to learn how to switch off the safety of the gun and load it with ammunition while her father was away. Incidentally, her father had taught her to use the firearm years back.

As her father returned, Reid met him at the garage standing at the "two-hands length" with a weapon in her hand and shot her father, who was identified as Justin Reid (39) by medical examiners, with 2-3 shots and bullet wounds on his chest and back. Reid then went on to kill her younger brother whom she described as a 5-year-old boy with autism inside the living room playing with his tablet as she shot two bullets on his head.

During a police interview, Rein was asked, "What she was going to do if she had gotten inside the room with her sister?" to which she answered she was, "going to utilize a knife or the gun to shoot/stab my sister."

Following the attack, Reid gave herself in by calling 911 and said, "I shot my dad. I shot my brother. My brother is dead." Reid also allegedly told the dispatcher, "I couldn't resist the urge to kill somebody." Rein also considered stabbing herself before the police arrived, but thought she deserved "worse."

Upon being asked what triggered her outburst for such an extreme action of homicide, Reid said, "I guess about my mom running away from us" describing how her mother ran away in December 2023, however, she was not close with her mother she had to take care of her siblings and she got more and more angry hearing her brother's screaming.

Rein also admitted that watching a few YouTube videos also made her want to torture people.

The teenager has now been charged as an adult with two counts of open murder and one count of attempted murder and is expected for a bail hearing on Thursday, as per the Washoe County Jail.
