On Sunday, the president tweeted a photo of a yellow banner with the word 'BELIEVE' over the Oval Office door. The notice is evocative of the one that was posted over Lasso's office door in the AFC Richmond locker room in the cartoon.

The Bidens will meet with Jason Sudeikis, who portrays the main character, an American who coaches a soccer team in London, and other members of the cast to discuss the importance of treating mental health and improving a person's overall well-being.

The third season of the Emmy-winning, feel-good Apple TV+ series premiered this week. The topic of mental health has been a major plot point in the programme, with Lasso seeking counselling after experiencing panic attacks.

As part of his 'unity agenda,' Biden has already called on lawmakers from both parties to provide funding to combat the nation's 'mental health problem.' His government has increased financing for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline and increased the number of school-based mental health workers.

The Biden administration has prioritised 'training more clinicians, making care more cheap and accessible, and fostering healthier and safer communities, including online,' according to a White House official.

On various occasions, the White House has hired celebrities to promote awareness about important concerns, such as mental health.

Selena Gomez, an actress and singer who has openly discussed her personal experiences with bipolar disorder, joined the first lady at a Mental Health Youth Action Conference organised by MTV at the White House last year. In a video with the president, first lady, and Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy, Gomez also discussed leveraging her position to raise mental health awareness.
