Suzanne Somers, renowned for her roles in the TV shows Three's Company and Step by Step passed away at the age of 76. She lost her battle with breast cancer on the morning of her 77th birthday, after courageously battling the disease for over twenty years, as confirmed by her publicist, R. Couri Hay.

Suzanne Somers was in the company of her husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her close family members, Hay mentioned in a statement. The publicist added that they had come together to commemorate her 77th birthday on October 16th. 

"Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."  A private family burial is scheduled for this week, and a memorial service will take place next month, according to her publicist, Hay.

Suzanne Somers utilised her fame as a platform to embark on a prosperous business career focused on wellness. She gained recognition as the spokesperson for the leg-toning product ThighMaster. Additionally, she authored 27 books with a primary focus on natural health, as outlined on her publicist's website.

Somers' Battle With Breast Cancer

Her battle with breast cancer began in 2000, and her approach to health garnered attention and debate when she opted out of chemotherapy and instead embraced alternative therapies. In July, she revealed that she had been privately dealing with cancer since her initial diagnosis.

Suzanne Somers initially came into the spotlight for her appearance driving a white Thunderbird in George Lucas' film American Graffiti in 1973. In the movie, her only spoken lines consisted of silently mouthing 'I love you' to Richard Dreyfuss' character, as reported by The Associated Press. She later expressed that this particular role had a profound and lasting impact on her life.

During the 1970s, she amassed numerous television and film credits, but her most notable role emerged when she starred in Three's Company from 1977 to 1981. 

Suzanne Somers' longest and most enduring role was that of a mother in a blended family on the TV show Step by Step. This series ran from 1991 to 1998.
