Acclaimed author Neil Gaiman has issued a strong denial of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct following an article published by New York Magazine. The article mentioned accusations from several women, including claims of sexual assault, coercion, and misconduct. The victims include two employees, a former nanny in her mid-20s during the first incident, and five fans – one just 18 when she met the star fantasy author. These incidents have previously been revealed in 2023, and were first explored in the podcast series Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman. Gaiman denying all accusations claimed that all sexual encounters were consensual.

Women Accusing Gaiman Of Misbehaviour & Assault

One of the key accusers of this case is Scarlett Pavlovich, a former nanny for Gaiman and his second wife, Amanda Palmer. She alleges that Gaiman sexually assaulted her within hours of their first meeting in February 2022. Pavlovich detailed an encounter in which Gaiman approached her while she was taking a bath at his home, and asked her to sit on his lap, a request she rejected. She further claimed that Gaiman later coerced her into sexual encounters despite her repeated protests.

A former tenant Caroline Wallner alleged that Gaiman demanded sexual favours in exchange for being allowed to continue living on his property. She also accused him of doing inappropriate actions in the presence of his minor son. A woman going by the pseudonym "Claire" described non-consensual touching by Gaiman after meeting him at a book tour event, with Gaiman making a $60,000 payment to her in August 2022.

Gaiman denies all allegations

Neil Gaiman refused the allegations made against him. In an online statement, he stated:

“I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Some of the horrible stories now being told simply never happened, while others have been so distorted from what actually took place that they bear no relationship to reality”.

"I am prepared to take responsibility for any missteps I made. I'm not willing to turn my back on the truth, and I can't accept being described as someone I am not, and cannot and will not admit to doing things I didn't do," he added.

Meanwhile, Gaiman's scandal has professionally affected his career. Three screen adaptations of his works have either been canceled or paused. Netflix halted production of Dead Boy Detectives, Amazon delayed the third and final season of Good Omens, and Disney shelved a planned adaptation of The Graveyard Book
