Miuccia Prada, 76, is an Italian billionaire fashion designer and the head of Prada, which is one of the most luxurious fashion houses to ever exist. Today, Prada is known for its designs, subtle luxury, and styles that feel thoughtful rather than flashy. The brand focuses on ideas and quality instead of loud trends. But the most iconic part of Miuccia Prada’s story isn’t just the empire she built but the path she took to reach there.
Before she became a big name in fashion, Miuccia studied Political Science. She learned how society works, how power operates, and how people behave. It was a smart and serious choice.
But instead of joining the family fashion business right away, she did something very different. She trained as a mime and performed in Milan for five years.
She was also a member of the Italian Communist Party and was involved in the women's rights movement during the seventies in Milan.

Life Doesn’t Follow a Straight Line
Miuccia joined her family's business, Prada, in 1975. Her first successful handbag design was in 1985. By 1989, she designed and introduced her first women's ready-to-wear collection.
In 1992, she launched Miu Miu, a 'less expensive' womenswear line inspired by her personal wardrobe. The brand is named after her own nickname.
In 2020, Miuccia Prada presented her final collection as the brand's sole creative director. She has since been sharing that responsibility with Raf Simons.
In November 2025, Miuccia received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Fashion Trust Arabia’s seventh annual FTA Prize, recognising her powerful influence on the fashion world.
