Gunjan Kedia is set to make history as the first female Chief Executive Officer of US Bancorp, the finance giant announced on January 28. Presently serving as the President, she will take charge at the helm of the company from April 15. She will replace Andy Cecere, who served as the company's CEO since 2017 and as its chairman since 2018. She also was elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Kedia, a distinguished and respected leader, is among a handful of female CEOs in the global finance sector, according to Reuters.
Who Is Gunjan Kedia?
Gunjan Kedia completed her early education in India, pursuing electrical and electronics engineering at the Delhi College of Engineering till 1992. She then earned an MBA in Finance at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper School of Business and has since lived in the United States.
Kedia boasts over three decades of comprehensive experience in the finance sector. According to US Bancorp, she is a seven-time honoree on the American Banker Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance lists and has been named twice to Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance list.
Kedia has served in leadership positions across organisations like PWC, McKinsey & Company, and State Street. Kedia joined US Bancorp in 2016 as the Vice Chair and climbed up the ranks to become the President in May 2024. In January 2025, the organisation stated her appointment as CEO.
