Kim Kardashian Warns Fans Of Crowdfunding Scam Amid LA Wildfires

American Internet personality and entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian, showed deep concern for LA wildfires and warned fans to stay safe from scammers pretending to help the victims.

American socialite entrepreneur Kim Kardashian is calling out scammers who are using her name to exploit victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. The 44-year-old reality star recently took to Instagram to alert her followers about a fraudulent fundraising campaign falsely claiming to raise money for those affected by the disaster. The wildfires broke on January 7 of this year, and two of the fires remain uncontrolled, posing a great threat to the lives of millions.

Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Adam Brody, Gilmore Girls fame Milo Ventimiglia, Kiko Mizuhara, etc are among other celebrities who have lost homes in the LA disaster. Many celebrities like Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, Adam Sandler, Steven Spielberg and several others were forced to evacuate for safety.

Scammers have been using celebrities' names as bait to attract money from people, in the disguise of helping the victims of the tragedy. Kim Kardashian shared a screenshot of one such scam, titled “Kim Kardashian Campaigns For Affected People In LA,” and filled with glaring grammatical errors. “Beware of scammers!” she warned, adding, “This is not real. If anyone gets an email like this — how horrible.”

The founder of SKIMS shared her sadness over the recent turn of events. “I’ve spent the last week watching my city burn and have spoken to many firefighters who are up all night using every ounce of their strength to save our community,” she wrote in another post.

Actress Priyanka Chopra also shared her heartbreak over the wildfires. She shared, "My heart is heavy for LA. While I am deeply grateful for my family's safety, so many of our friends, colleagues, and fellow Angelenos have lost so much. These fires have displaced countless families and devastated entire communities, leaving an overwhelming need for rebuilding and support."

The wildfires have consumed 40,000 acres, destroying 12,300 structures, including celebrity homes and popular hotspots in some of LA’s most affluent neighbourhoods. At least 25 people have died in the fires. About 82,400 county residents remained under mandatory evacuation orders and another 90,400 were under evacuation warnings, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna told US Today.
