Supermodel Gigi Hadid was vacationing with her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy in the Cayman Islands in the UK when she was arrested for travelling with marijuana and the utensils used for the consumption.
According to reports, 28-year-old Hadid was reportedly arrested for carrying marijuana to the Cayman Islands. Importing marijuana and the utensils she used it in is a grave crime in the said land.
Gigi Hadid Arrested For Possession Of Marijuana
The arrest was made on July 10 when the two friends were travelling and arrived at the airport. When the luggage was scanned officers found the star model and McCarthy to be travelling with marijuana with them. After that, a thorough search was made through their luggage where utensils for the consumption of the substance were found.
The officers reported the incident and made arrests of the two friends on suspicion of importing marijuana and utensils used for its consumption. Gigi along with her friend was taken to the Prisoner Detention Camp but after further investigation, the two were released on bail.
On July 12 the two friends appeared in court and pleaded guilty but managed to avoid a recorded conviction while they were fined $1000 of penalty.
A representative of Hadid told the E! News that the marijuana found with the star model was legally purchased from New York with a medical license, and since 2017, marijuana has also been legal in the Cayman Islands for the use of medical consumption.
Gigi's representative also informed that Gigi along with her best friend Leah Mccarthy enjoyed their remaining time vacationing on the Islands while Gigi recently added pictures from her vacation on her Instagram.
