As reported by the New York Post, upon arriving at the Riverview, Florida home, Sheriff Scott Pracht discovered that the 911 call had been made by a young boy who simply wanted to hug him.

The doorbell camera footage captured the moment when Pracht knocked on the front door, expecting an emergency.

A woman, presumably the boy's mother, approached Pracht with a visible air of confusion upon his arrival. Pracht inquired if it was her home and whether everything was alright, as they had received a 911 call. The video then briefly fast-forwards to when the mother opened her door and instructed her son to come out and speak to the officer, bringing his phone along.

The mother, apologetically, informs Pracht that her son doesn't even know what 911 is. The child then rushes out with his phone, and when asked by his mother if he had called the police, he innocently replies, "Well, I wanted to give him a hug!" before sweetly approaching Pracht.

The mother takes her child's phone and checks its call history, confirming that the young boy did indeed dial 911, displaying the call record to Pracht. The child proudly proclaims, "I know what your phone number is, it's 911."

Pracht seizes the heartwarming moment to impart a valuable lesson. He explains to the boy the significance of using 911 in emergencies, emphasising that it's for situations where someone is in trouble, needs assistance, or is in danger. He underlines the importance of being cautious when calling that number and using it exclusively for emergencies when someone is hurt, or in situations where help is urgently required.

The boy, in his innocence, responds with an affirmative "Okay" and apologises as directed by his mother. Pracht readily forgives the child without hesitation and reassures the mother that it's okay.

Before the video concludes, Pracht humorously remarks on his radio, saying, "Ten-four... kid just wanted a hug."
