Growing up in Southeast San Diego, California, Day discovered her passion for singing at an early age. Her musical journey began at the First United Methodist Church in Chula Vista, where she started singing and taking dance lessons at the age of five. Influenced by jazz vocalists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dinah Washington, Day's formative years at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts laid the foundation for her future success.

The Rise to Stardom

In 2015, Andra Day released her debut album, Cheers to the Fall, which garnered critical acclaim. The album's single, Rise Up, earned her a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance.
