Alison Brittain is a businesswoman and is the current Chief Executive Officer of Whitbread since 2016. In 2023, she will be taking over the position of the chairperson of the Premier League and would become the first woman ever to hold that position.

English football's top level league, the Premier League, will be appointing a new chairperson in 2023 and the person voted for the responsibility is famous businesswoman and current CEO of Whitbread, Alison Brittain.

She would be the first woman is history to hold that position as she succeeds Peter McCormick. Talking about her new role and responsibility, Brittain reportedly said, "I have been a football fan since I was a child and so am absolutely delighted to be appointed chair of the Premier League". Here's what we know about her.

Who Is Premier League New Chairperson Alison Brittain?

Alison has served as the head of many top positions and is a known name in the British banking industry. Born as Alison Hopkins in February 1965, the 57-year-old businesswoman spent her early years in Derbyshire and went on take a business studies degree from University of Stirling. She matriculated at Girton College as she completed her MBA from Cambridge Judge Business School. Post her graduation, she joined Barclays as a trainee and devoted 19 years of work and skills to the British universal multinational bank.

She later went on to serve at senior positions in Santander UK, Lloyds Banking Group and ultimately Whitbread. She took over the position of CEO of Premier Inn's parent company and hospitality business Whitbread from Andy Harrison in January 2016 and will be completing her tenure there in February 2023. She will then begin her operations as the Chairperson of Premier League.

On personal front, she is married to Kevin Brittain whom she reportedly met at a branch of Barclays on the Baker Street. The couple have two children together.

Serving on the advisory boards of the last three Prime Ministers of Britain and Prince's Trust Council trustee and deputy chair, she is also a 2019 awardee of the CBE, the short for Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
