Patriarchy In Daily Life
What comes to you mind when you think of  "Patriarchy"? I assume the idea of a male domination on a female. Long ago, our culture and ever evolving society decided to gift patriarchy to women and the privileges coming with it to men. Technically, this is visible, where head of the  family, tribe, society, etc., is always male.

Yes! Our culture is patriarchal, meaning that men rule over women. Males hold the position of supreme authority in patriarchal social structures. Females keeps challenging these norms of the structures, yet there is a long way to go. Let see how Patriarchy still exists in society, what forms it takes in a woman's life.

Patriarchy in Daily Life, Here is the Proof

Mandatory Household Duties- The phrase "males don't have to cook for the entire family" is used here to contrast with "females have to make meals for the family members, take care of children, then go to work, etc. Now this everyone might have heard, witnessed, or experienced.

Pay Gap In Gender- The amount of money received by each person should be equal. But men get paid more than women despite being hired for same position. For women breaking the glass ceiling, reaching top position is tough comparative to men. Every time a woman becomes CEO they are celebrated, because it is rare view. Be actors or scientist women are paid less, and its a universal truth.

Unfair Curfew Times At Home, Hostel- Whether at home or in a hostel, there shouldn't be any curfew hours for women. Still want to have curfew times, it should be for all the genders. Why not ensure security and safety for men also? There should be no partiality with regard to freedom.

Moral Policing Women Is Not Required- There is nothing wrong with dresses, but women always go through a round of criticisms before donning dress of her choice. Why? though men are constantly complimented even for wearing a basic vest and half pants, that flaunts their skin as well. Women don't require society's moral policing.

Patriarchy still prevails in our culture. People do not wish to adopt a different attitude, the prejudices are carry forward. I like that more and more women are gaining education today. They are hired by respectable firms. Still, education, job don't save them from criticism and taunting of not getting married at a suitable age makes them look bad, nevertheless, not men! Gender equality is necessary for all humans. If we wish to live in a free and open environment, we must transform our patriarchal mindsets. This needs to change.
