You fight over trivial things, you patch up without saying sorry, you love to hate each other but you always have each other’s backs. Sisters have a special bond and much to their displeasure they are open books to each other. Even if you have your differences while you are young you learn to cherish the bond as you grow up. Attending a sister’s wedding or having your arsenal of sisters around when you tie the knot is therefore imperative. Indian wedding rituals also give a special place for the bride’s sister.

The actor shared a picture, looking as resplendent as ever in her bridal attire along with her sisterhood, and shared a post saying, “Growing up, we sisters always protected each other. They are my pillars of strength and we keep each other grounded… May it always stay that way!”

Katrina's sister Isabelle Kaif also shared the same image writing, “family is everything.” She also dropped a photo featuring herself, her sister and bride Katrina and actress Sharvari which shows the sisters celebrating the special day.

For long, the world has pitied one woman against other and said that a woman is a woman’s worst enemy. We are seeing this notion being shattered now. Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, considered as Kaif's "rivals" both wished Katrina Kaif on social media, congratulating her on the new beginning. Even if you argue that it is a smart PR trick, nonetheless it is setting a trendsetter and breaking a stereotype that women can be happy in each other happiness.

My Pillars Of Strength: Katrina Kaif Shares Wedding Pics With Sisters

From making your sandcastles together, sharing your wardrobe or those hand-me-down clothes, to sharing your secret crushes and then becoming your sounding board for most decisions, the meaning of sisterhood may change over the years in life. A great example of sisterhood is the royal sisters Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. They had their differences because of their different personalities but there was unwavering devotion which was the basis of their relationship.

The word sisterhood has many meanings, evokes a variety of emotions but it is not limited to blood relations. It is the experience of having that someone, who's always there for you. As you grow up sisterhood takes under its wings the blood sisters, colleagues, friends, neighbours, sisters-in-law and the entire tribe of women who are your support system. They support you in distress and share high fives on your achievements. They are women who keep you grounded and are at the same time the wind beneath your wings.

Sisterhood is one of the strongest bonds between women cutting across age barriers. Yes, it deserves to be celebrated. Loyalty, kindness and knowing how to have fun together is what forms a sisterhood. Sisterhood is loving and accepting someone for what they are but inspiring them to be better versions of themselves. Quality time and communication are as important in sisterhood as it is in any other relationship. It is knowing that you have a safe space where you are loved and appreciated. It is a hug a pat or an emoticon on your WhatsApp chat during those tough days that can lift your spirit.
