On Friday, the 66th National Award winners were announced. Ayushman Khurana and Vicky Kaushal shared the best actor award for Andhadhun and Uri. Badhaai Ho won the Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment. The highlight of the list was 74 years old rather 74 years “young” Surekha Sikri who won a national award in the best-supporting role category. Popularly known as “Dadi Sa” from serial Balika Vadhu, she started her career in 1978 with “Kissa Kursi Ka.”

The role of grumpy and quirky grandmother played by Surekha Sikri wooed the audience. The bond between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law was perfectly projected on the silver screen by the duo of Neena Gupta and Surekha Sikri.

This small budget film directed by Amit Sharma broke the box office records with 221.44 crores business. It was based on a middle-class 'Kaushik' family where 25 years old Nakul played by Ayushmann's mother gets pregnant with her third child in this age. Surekha' reaction on getting National Award

Sharing her excitement with Zoom TV veteran actress said, “It feels very good. I am very excited about it. I am so thankful. It feels really really good, I am so happy that the film has won.” Further adding to this she said, “I did not expect this. This made me so happy. I am very happy for the whole team and everyone who worked really hard for this. Every one of us worked really hard for the movie, so I am obviously very very happy for the team.” Pinkvilla reports.

“Mera pehla reaction tha... Mujhe laga arre ye kya ho gaya...the director of the film called me to congratulate me, and even he deserves an award. Ayushmann has also won an award. I am extremely happy about it."

Co-actress Neena Gupta expressed her joy saying, “Yes I am very happy. I had forgotten the National Film Awards weren’t held till now. They are late this time because of elections. Suddenly I came to know about them from Twitter and I couldn’t believe it we got two awards, three awards in a way. I will say three because Ayushmann Bhi Hume Apna Hi Lagta Hai, (who got the Best Actor for Andhadhun). I am so happy.”

Already featured in 25 films and dozens of Hindi serials, fabulous actress Surekha Ji has proven that age is just a number.
