Being on the brink of teenage, here is a list of stuff I want her to know, some things that would help her sail through the teen years.

A woman who wants to take charge of her life and its decisions does not need to be a “tomboy”. Womanhood implies both salwar and jeans, innocence and power and silence and roar.

I wanted the women to look like women we all knew, not perfect, angelic beings doing the right thing. Pain can often make us ugly and unlikeable, and I wanted to show that side of the women.

There’s nothing more beautiful than “Sisterhood”. From understanding each others PMS to supporting each other deal with the challenges posed by the world to us, because of our gender.

Women have to compete among themselves, because there is a limited space for their gender on top. It is this space which needs to expand. It is the mindset that encourages hostility among women which needs to go.

The judgemental world that we live in has made all of us cynical. We fear judgement, especially at the hands of old friends. These people have seen us grow after all. We shared our desires, dreams, and ambitions with them.

Saas and bahu, sister-in-laws, female colleagues. Patriarchy breaks us apart by conditioning us to see each other as rivals to gain male attention and privilege. It is its way of preserving male dominance.
