Sharmistha Ray continues to straddle different worlds as an artist, writer and educator back in New York. She says that most artists in New York wear many hats and live a hyphenated existence. They act as small-business owners/entrepreneurs. “It’s a far more dynamic approach that aligns with the world we live in: it also puts agency back in the hands of artists.”

With the female form finding its way into many of canvases Sharmistha says that she is a proud feminist who takes pride in being part of the current generation of women who seek to impact awareness and change through their work.
