The Supreme Court today said that the Delhi Police will receive all police charges against Sharma, and they will be clubed together. The judges acknowledged that they had considered her death threats into account.

Two men killed a tailor named Kanhaiya Lal last month in Udaipur, Rajasthan, because of his social media posts endorsing Nupur Sharma. Amravati, in Maharashtra, saw a similar murder.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav wrote on Twitter that she should apologise with her whole body and not just her face. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has now asked Uttar Pradesh police to take against Yadav for allegedly instigating hatred and ill-will against Sharma. 

The accountability for Kanhaiya Lal’s death rests solely with the extremists who perpetrated the crime. However, we also have to acknowledge the role that television debates have played in deepening the religious divide in this country.

Nupur Sharma, in the now withdrawn petition, filed in Supreme Court requested a transfer to Delhi the multiple FIRs filed against her citing threats. The Court while hearing the case blamed her for the law and order situation in the country.

According to sources, a Mumbai police team that was in Delhi to interrogate Nupur Sharma was unable to locate her. They claimed she had become untraceable.

Sharma in her raging frenzy made controversial remarks about the Prophet which has triggered violent protests across India and resulted in a slew of FIRs being filed against her. Reports suggest she has been asked to appear at Narkeldanga Police station on June 20 to record her statement.

Sharma will reportedly be questioned by Mumbai Police over her derogatory comments. Multiple complaints were filed against her across Mumbai and Mumbai metropolitan region over the derogatory remarks, the report stated. 

Twitter is flooded with messages asking news presenter Navika Kumar to be arrested. The journalist was hosting the panel wherein Sharma made statements about Prophet Muhammad.
