When asked what was the reason behind her choice of topics for her raps, Mistri clarified that many times her friends, as well as she herself, was told that they won’t be able to achieve anything in life, owing to the fact that they belong from an unprivileged background.

“Today, I’m the first Indian American to host the pre-show and I couldn’t be prouder. Representing my community while being a part of such an incredible night is an honour,” says Raja Kumari.

Missy Elliott became the first female rapper to be inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The rapper was visibly emotional at the event.
