Under the Bangladeshi Laws for marriage and divorce, a woman has to select one of the options out of Kumari (meaning virgin), Widow or Divorced. The court ruled that the word Kumari be replaced with unmarried. Grooms, according to the previous law, were not required to declare their marital status.Â
